Vote "No!" on H.R. 2454 and STOP "Cap and Trade" laws!

Sat, 07/04/2009 - 03:06

We, the people of the United States of America, are strongly opposed to so-called "Cap and Trade" laws and demand our representatives in Washington vote NO on H.R. 2454.

Introduced under the misleading short title "American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009," H.R. 2454 will cause undue hardship for millions of hard-working Americans by raising taxes, putting American jobs at risk, and establishing new and unnecessary government agencies.

In addition to costing taxpayers billions of dollars in specific allocations of funds, H.R. 2454 repeatedly includes "blank check" clauses – authorizing the appropriation of funds without limit.

This is unacceptable at any time, and especially during the current economic crisis.

Furthermore, several provisions in H.R. 2454 invade, endanger, and encroach upon the rights afforded to citizens and property owners by the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

One example is Section 209 of Title II, Subtitle A – which would allow individuals renting a house or apartment to install solar energy system regardless of the property owner's wishes.

Still more examples can be found in the full text of H.R. 2454, which can be viewed here:
http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h2454eh.txt.pdf

Finally, the majority of H.R. 2454 is dedicated to reducing and countering the effects of "Global Warming" – despite increasingly overwhelming evidence that proves Global Warming is, at best, an unproven theory and not scientific fact.

We, the American people cannot afford – and do not want – the provisions of H.R. 2454 and demand our representatives VOTE NO to this and any other "Global Warming" or "Cap and Trade" legislation!
